Hello! I am Kim Jordan and I teach 7th and 8th grade Science. If you have any questions, please call me at (419) 894-6431 Ext. 214 or you can e-mail me at [email protected]. I offer extra help on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:15-7:45 am. If this time does not work for you, please let me know and we can schedule another time.
8TH GRADE SCIENCE -This year our 8th grade class will be taking a standardized test in Science. It is called the AIR test and it will be administered in April In order to reach our objectives, we will be doing some wonderful experiments, simulations, and demonstrations. The Science department was able to purchase some WONDERFUL experiments which will be used during the school year. The 8th grade students will study the History of Plate Tectonics, the History of the Earth, Earth's interior, the Earth's surface and geologic record during our Earth Science portion of the year. Later we will study Life Science: meiosis, mitosis, inherited traits, and genetics. Finally, we will study Physical Science which includes forces, energy, gravity, magnetic, and electrical forces. Let's make it a great, educational year.
7TH GRADE SCIENCE: The students in 7th grade Science do not have to take a standardized test this year. In 7th grade we will be conducting experiments, using microscopes, classifying, implementing the scientific method, and lots of fun activities to enhance the learning process. The students will be studying ecosystems, biomes, transfer of energy and matter, populations, photosynthesis, and the transfer of matter between organisms. Later they will look at air/ocean currents properties of the atmosphere, biogeochemical cycles (including the water cycle), patterns and cycles in the solar system and moon phases and how they correlate to tides. Lastly, they will look at elements and compounds, transfer of energy, and Conservation of Energy. Wow, all of that in one year!
We will have a great year investigating all of these areas of Science. Have a great school year!
