OH|ID: Go to the OH|ID website and log into your account (or create a new account). This is where you will apply for a Coaching (Pupil Activity) Permit. There are more details on the link above to guide you through the process. However, if you hold a current teaching certificate, you can apply for a 5-year Pupil Activity Permit. If you do not hold a teaching certificate, then you will apply for a 3-year permit. The cost ranges from $45-75.
To apply for a NEW license, follow the following instructions:
1. Log into OHID
2. Click "Open App" on the far right box named "Educator License and Records"
3. On the left-hand side, under "My Credentials" click on "Apply for New Credential +" and then click "Apply for NEW credential" on the pop-up window.
4. Scroll down to Coaches (Pupil Activity Permit).
5. For NON-TEACHERS, click the "Coaching (Pupil Activity) Permit 3 year". For TEACHERS, click the "Coaching (Pupil Activity) Permit 5 year"
6. Follow the remaining process to apply and pay.
To RENEW a license, follow the following instructions:
1. Log into OHID
2. Click "Open App" on the far right box named "Educator License and Records"
3. On the left-hand side, under "My Credentials" click on "Apply for New Credential +" and then click "Take action on EXISTING credential" on the pop-up window.
4. Scroll down to "Renew My Credential"
5. Select the Pupil Activity Permit you to need to renew and follow the process to apply and pay.
FBI/BCI Check: All candidates seeking employment must submit both an Ohio BIC and FBI criminal background check.
NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Class/Concussion Class: Sign up for an NFHSlearn account on this page. After you have logged in, click on the "Courses" at the top of the page and scroll down to "Fundamental of Coaching." The cost is about $75 and only needs to be taken once.
First Aid/Sports Medicine: This link takes you to a course available under your NHFS account. Tim Saltzman also offers courses throughout the year (with the CPR class) and there are local classes available. The online class costs $45 and has to be taken when your PAP is up for renewal.
CPR/AED: This link takes you to the Red Cross website, click on "Adult CPR/AED Online", and the cost is $25. You can also take the course with Tim Salztman or locally.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest: This needs to be completed yearly and is free. You need to log on and complete the course/test. Please print the certificate and email it to Tayler Conner.
