 Procedures for enrolling peer models:  
Arcadia Special Education Preschool Unit

 

Peer models in the Arcadia Special Education Preschool Unit serve as role models for the children in our program who have special needs in communication, hearing, vision, social-emotional skills, cognitive skills, motor skills, and adaptive or behavior concerns.  

=       Children who are at least 4 years of age by August 1 of the school year will be screened to determine age-appropriate social, physical, and language development levels before enrollment.  

=       Registration for the screening begins February 1. The registration will need to be updated by a parent every year.

=       The screening date will be scheduled in April 2024 for the 2024-25 school year. An appointment will be scheduled when you turn in the screening form.

=       Peer role model enrollment in the Arcadia Special Needs Preschool classes is limited by state licensing. 

=      In the event more students apply than are available peer model openings, the peer models will be selected based on the screening observations and the use of random selection

=       Classes meet Monday through Thursday. The A.M. class meets 7:35 a.m.-10:35a.m. The P.M. class meets from 11:35a.m.-2:35p.m.  

=       Parents are responsible for transportation to and from school. 

=       An enrollment packet including a doctor signed physical and dental exam, lead test, immunization records, and birth certificate are required by ODE licensing. A Social Security number is required by the Arcadia Local School District. 

=       At least one parent is required to attend an Orientation Meeting at the school and a Peer Model Parent Meeting at the Hancock County Education Service Center (ESC). These meetings are mandatory and will be scheduled before the start of school. 

Tuition and Payment Procedures

=       Tuition will be $120.00 per month. The first and last month is due at the Hancock County ESC Meeting. 

=       Tuition is payable to the Hancock County Educational Service Center 

=       Payment is due by the 1st of each month. 

=       There is no charge for August if school starts in August. 

=       Scholarships funded by the United Way and the Community Foundation are available for families who qualify for free or reduced lunches. Please ask for an application if you think your family may qualify.
